How many times have you taken the LSAT
Hey all. I took the LSAT twice (once in June, and again this December). I obviously was unhappy with my June score. Now I am sitting here with post LSAT blues. I have the feeling that I am going to have to take this test a third time. So, I was just wondering for all you retakers, how many times have you taken the LSAT? Anyone take the test three or more times?
Also feel free to post your experiences. I can tell you that the first time around I didn't study that hard, and my test center was changed two weeks before the test to a school that was pretty far away. I ended up with a 156 (I know it's bad. All you elitists are probably like eeewwww gross). This time around I busted my ass and I was PTing in the mid 160's on 5 section practice tests, but I just got really nervous on test day and there were a couple of distractions that threw me off. I feel like I really blew it. I sat in my living room after the test for an hour and a half contemplating canceling, but I could't bear not knowing what I got. Now I feel like crap.

I'm interested in hearing too, especially from the T-14 guys with retakes.

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
I've taken it 4 times. Based on my cycle so far, it's true that no one (with maybe the exception of YS) averages or really even considers multiple scores. I'd highly encourage anyone to retake til they've hit their potential.

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
If you don't mind my asking, how did you do that one time that you took it, and where did you end up going? Also, why did you choose not to retake? I'm just trying to learn as much as I can in order to make the best decision. If you would prefer you can PM me. Thanks for the input Nova.Nova wrote:for the opportunity to be in a better positionYanky91 wrote:Why?Nova wrote:Took it once. Shoulda retaken.

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
I took it 3 times with a 1 point gain between my first and second time and a 5 point gain between by second and third time. It's definitely improved my cycle (I got into Harvard). Don't be afraid to take the test 3 times if you have to.

Once, but already doing light studying for a retake if this cycle doesn't go as planned.

Three times for me. They say third time is the charm so I guess I'll let you know how true that is when this latest score is released.

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
Thanks and sure thing! My previous takes were 161, 164, 167. With the first two, I tried cramming for the LSAT along with 20+ hour semesters and really thought I could pull everything off. I was prepping in the 170 ballpark before getting the 167. I was leaning heavily towards attending my local TT on a full tuition scholarship before TLS convinced me to retake and reapply. I had planned forever on going straight from undergrad to law school but reluctantly decided to sit the two cycles out.Seoulless wrote:Congrats on the great cycle so far - http://lawschoolnumbers.com/goldenflash19goldenflash19 wrote:I've taken it 4 times. It was the best decision of my life. I gained work experience, got to travel, and picked up a new language. I actually got severed from my job a month before my fourth take of the LSAT, so I was able to study full time using noodley's guide and scored 174. Schools that I never dreamed I'd be able to attend have become almost guaranteed acceptances, and I was thrilled to get my JS2 this week. I don't know where I'll wind up yet, but I wouldn't be in the position I am now without TLS.

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
I took it just the once but I should have retaken. My first problem was insufficient preparation. About 6 months before I took my actual LSAT, I took one practice test completely cold. Then I bought the Logic Games Bible since it was the one section that I needed to improve but I didn't start reading it until a little under two weeks before the June LSAT. My second problem was the test itself. I actually had to exit the testing room due to a coughing fit (I was recovering from the Flu) and had to guess about five questions in RC due to the ensuing time restraint. All in all it was a disaster. But I had a stupid pre-law adviser who told me that if I was a strong test-taker I wouldn't need too much preparation and that taking the test in October would be too late and T14 schools would average the scores so I didn't retake. Then I found TLS and learned that everything my pre-law adviser told me was wrong but by then it was too late.
Moral of the story: don't listen to your pre-law advisers.

3 times, currently waiting on the third score but I don't have high hopes for it due to a medical issue I had during the test. My second score has given me a good cycle thus far though, so I am happy regardless.

Twice so far. I will retake in June if I did not reach my target score in December. I guess I'll find this out in a week!

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
3 times for a total boost of 2 points
I didn't apply until after my third take, and I think sitting out 3 cycles helped me more than anything (splitter).

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
170 in June --> 173 in October. I was PTing 178-180 for weeks before both, so I was a bit disappointed. But, 173 is median or better everywhere, and 75th or better everywhere but HY (which my GPA probably keeps me out of anyway).

Goldenflash, I just want to say great choice on deciding to retake. It looks like it definitely benefitted you. If you don't mind my asking, what is noodley's guide? (Sorry if this is a noob question, everyone. I am only really reading around on the forums now.)

Re: How many times have you taken the LSAT
Feb 14 will be my 3rd time. Took it June 13 and October 13. Jumped 9 points and hoping to jump at least 5-6 more to improve scholly money.
June : 160
Oct: 169
Feb: hopeful for a 175. I was scoring that in my PT so lets hope it reflects in my actual LSAT this time around.
