Call w/ law school dean
On Friday I have a call w/ the dean of a law school. He e-mailed me pointing out specific things in my application that he enjoyed and questions about my geographic preferences, saying he'd like to call me to discuss how the school can help me reach my goals ... Is this normal?
Additionally, what should I come prepared with? I got a full scholarship from a higher ranked university, should I mention that?
Thanks for any help!
Also: I've already been accepted with a small scholly to the school.

I can't help you unless you tell me the school.

If you are above their medians they may be recruiting you.

I am, so I guess I should just expect a typical trying to sell me on the college phone call then?
Seems silly to even be asking this question but just didn't want to get blind sided by something random... Don't even know what it would be though.

Hmmm. I wonder if it is a Yield Protection call. Perhaps they're trying to see if you're actually interested or if you are just applying to them as a safety.

Dean of the law school or dean of admissions?
it strikes me as highly bizarre that the dean of the law school would read your file, unless you have huge giving potential. Maybe the really really like you?...but I suspect it was the admissions dean, fyi.

Law school deans (not admissions) have definitely been making calls this cycle.

Perhaps (and perhaps they do to special interest every cycle) but they generally don't answer admissions and applications questions. I've reported directly under several and know a good deal more and a mass call from the dean of the law school to answer admissions questions would be a new thing. Then again...schools are needy!angels2fly wrote:Law school deans (not admissions) have definitely been making calls this cycle.
I'd actually be curious which schools have the Dean calling? I'll even infographic it if the data is compelling.

It is Dean, I believe. When you look up his info it just says "Dean". I'll PM you the school if you want, don't feel super comfortable just throwing it out here.MikeSpivey wrote:Perhaps (and perhaps they do to special interest every cycle) but they generally don't answer admissions and applications questions. Hmmm why not tell us the school? Big difference between the dean of Stanford and the dean of Cooley.

I would bet dimes to dollars it is outside top 25. Then again, I have been wrong many times before, like in this thread for example.californiauser wrote:Hmmm why not tell us the school? Big difference between the dean of Stanford and the dean of Cooley.

Thanks, folks. I am now aware that at least two schools have had their deans calling admitted students, at least one of which where the dean actually had the admissions file in front of them. The times, they are a changing!wbaseball4ever wrote:I've had one too...
