Some do. Johann Lee at Northwestern, for one, has made google+ posts or tweets implicitly responding to stuff on TLS.

Why wouldn't they be able to use it? There's no expectation of privacy on TLS. Whether they bother or not is an entirely different question.

The only way an admissions office could use a TLS post against an applicant would be if they matched the poster to the applicant. Some of us are pretty open about who we are, but if you're afraid of being "outed" just be careful how much you give away.

Or just be careful about what you say, such that you'd be willing to stand behind it in real life.

FYI: I don't think that my law school dean has affected me in any way in law school. But YMMV.
