Some schools offer complete admissions stats?
Been browsing law websites. Looks like UC davis published something they call a "catalog"
http://www.law.ucdavis.edu/publications ... atalog.pdf
Page 34 has a section called "applicant group for the class entering Fall 2013".
It gives a really, really complete breakdown of applicants and admissions.
i.e. there's a chart that lists lsat score against gpa, in relatively small increments (174-180 168-173, 162-167, etc) (4.33-3.75, 3.74-3.5, 3.49-3.25, etc).
And then, in the intersection, they give the applicants and the admissions. For example, in the group 162-167 and 3.74-3.5, there were 295 applicants and 278 were accepted.
I mean, this is great. What's really wild is how close these figures are to LSN. for example, for this group on lsn, they have 25 applicants, 3 waitlists, and 0 rejects. that's like 95% vs 90%. Even with 168-173/2.75-2.99 splitters, the publication gives 9 apps and 6 admits, and lsn gives 2/2. Pretty freakin close, especially for a less-popular-with-the-lsn-type-crowd school like davis, and ESPECIALLY for a splitter.
I guess I have two reasons for posting this. One, if anyone is thinking of applying to or going to davis, the first thing you should do is check out law school transparency. The second thing you should do is check out this chart, because it's awesome for a school to publish these. It needs to be out there.
Which brings me to my second question. Anyone else know of any other schools that do this? I have been looking, checking catalogs/publications/etc for different schools and haven't come across anything similar yet.
I will keep looking. If anyone else finds anything like this, please share! It's like a more complete LSN!
I wonder if schools would provide this via email if asked nicely?

Re: Some schools offer complete admissions stats?
A few schools include this info in their front page in the LSAC Official Guide. Yale is the only T14 school to disclose their grid. Most of the rest substitute a spiel hilariously detailing how an LSAT/GPA grid is too reductive to capture the holism of their admissions processes. Texas, UCLA, and USC also include the data on their pages. I haven't looked any further than these schools.

Damn, those numbers look QUITE a bit different from LSN.. only 46% of 3.75+/170+ applicants got in? That doesn't seem right for Duke, right?

Yeah, this is what you'd experience if any school released information about its entire applicant pool.

Also applications withdrawn before decision (due to applicants being accepted at other schools) are probably a factor.melodygreenleaf wrote:I'm guessing YP.xylocarp wrote:Damn, those numbers look QUITE a bit different from LSN.. only 46% of 3.75+/170+ applicants got in? I think that's probably the biggest factor.heythatslife wrote:Also applications withdrawn before decision (due to applicants being accepted at other schools) are probably a factor.melodygreenleaf wrote:I'm guessing YP.xylocarp wrote:Damn, those numbers look QUITE a bit different from LSN.. only 46% of 3.75+/170+ applicants got in? I'm guessing PT made the acceptance rate for those top numbers groups way too high for them to publish it.melodygreenleaf wrote:I'm guessing YP.xylocarp wrote:Damn, those numbers look QUITE a bit different from LSN.. only 46% of 3.75+/170+ applicants got in? That doesn't seem right for Duke, right?

Re: Some schools offer complete admissions stats?
I think MOST schools have this data on their LSAC profiles. I repeat this to students constantly when I'm on the road recruiting because I think it could be one of the most underused sources of information. Every student looks at me blankly, even when they say they've looked at the Official Guide. I'm sure virtually everyone just looks at the comparison grids and that's it.
Also, if you click on the "ABA Data" button from that page, you'll see data on scholarships like average award, % Full Ride+, % Half-Full, and % Less than Half ride. It's for the whole school, not just the incoming class, but still.
