167 / 4.10 application advice
Hi!
I took June lsat and got 167.
Its pretty disappointing since my preptest average(PT 61~68) was 172.
I'm a senior at UC berkeley(econ and applied math) and my gpa is 4.10.
Could you tell me what are my chances at top 14 law schools?
Thank you!!

While I completed requirements for econ honor graduation,
I still need to take 3 more upper math courses to graduate also
with math major degree.
Im quite certain that taking these 3 courses will lower my GPA.

I would finish the math degree. It will look better to employers than the econ degree and shouldn't hurt you in applications as long as you don't go under a 4.0.
Retake the LSAT is your only answer. I'm guessing your 167 is likely a minus 8 or so on Reading comprehension, a minus 5 on LR. You are a nonnative English speaker, but can improve your LSAT abilities through more practice with real tests. I have friends who struggle with English and have still gotten good enough LSAT scores to get into top-6 schools.

Retake. Finish the math major. Apply fall 2014, not this year. Don't be a fool and you'll have a great cycle.

You absolutely need to retake, especially given that you were PTing in the low 170s. In the meantime, play around with mylsn.info to see which schools have the best chance of accepting you with your current / future numbers.infimumsupremum wrote:Hi!

You are the IDEAL retake candidate. With that GPA a solid retake puts any school you want in reach. Please for the love of god don't go to berkely or duke now, instead of stanford or harvard at the same cost next year.

If you retake and get anything over 172, you're pretty much a lock at H.
