I was wondering if anyone had any experience (positive or negative) with asking an alumni to write a letter recommending you to their particular law school. I do not mean in the letter of recommendation/evaluation area of the application, but as a separate piece sent to the admissions department.
For example, a prominent Notre Dame Law School alumni sending a letter of support a few weeks after you notify him that you have applied to the Law School. (This was the situation that I was told greatly impacted his admission decision)
Anyone have any experience with this? Obviously you would never really know how well it worked, but if it does seem to I might just jump on some alumni I know

Re: Letter from Alumni
Probably not going to do anything, even at the margins. LSAT and UGPA are all that matters.
