Given that those aren't great odds, you should retake... unless you doubt that you can do better. Also, if its Y/S or bust, then definitely retake unless you have a SUPER interesting story/PS/LORs

Applying with a 173/3.85 is risky if OP wants YS...bee wrote:Retake is risky unless you are consistently PTing in the very high 170s under strictly timed conditions using recent tests, but yes, a higher retake would help.

+1. A retake is OP's best bet, especially for Y.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Applying with a 173/3.85 is risky if OP wants YS...bee wrote:Retake is risky unless you are consistently PTing in the very high 170s under strictly timed conditions using recent tests, but yes, a higher retake would help.

Cautiously advise retake, but I would like to point out that Y/S are unpredictable - it seems like above a certain level of numbers, softs weigh in much more strongly than they might at say, NYU.

Ignoring my first semester, I have a 3.98, so I wouldn't say that my number even represent my numbers... But that's neither here nor there, as I was my no means a shoe in at SLS (based on mylsn)
