Hold vs wait listed
I just got an e-mail saying that my application was placed on hold. What does this mean?

From where? There is no universal terminology. Depending on the school that might mean you were waitlisted.jbrewer202 wrote:I just got an e-mail saying that my application was placed on hold. What does this mean?

Re: Hold vs wait listed
If there is a difference, a hold is better than a waitlist. The hold means that they don't want to decide on your application yet because you're just on the cusp. A waitlist means that they made a decision on your application, and it wasn't good enough. They don't want to outright cut you in case then need to pull you up from the farm leagues, but it's worse than a hold.
This is in general - there are exceptions.

My Hold was from Mercer, I applied late, like half a month late and I missed the first round. I know it isn't a major university but it is where I really want to go. I am nervous about getting in and it seems like it was prolonged lol. I am taking it as a positive that I wasn't rejected right away though.

Re: Hold vs wait listed
It's definitely not universal, but I feel like schools go to held candidates before they go to waitlisted candidates.
So HOLD > WL probably?
So HOLD > WL probably?
