LGBT Friendly schools

Post by Dr. Dre » Wed Mar 20, 2013 10:04 pm

Which schools would give a boost to applicants who are LGBT?

Which schools would punish applicants for being LGBT?

Regent, George Mason, BYU? (I know in '07 the school code made being gay ok, but if you did a diversity statement discussing any actions on those impulses... I think it would sink you), and UCI.

Boost? Berkeley or any other liberal school.

WTF? UCI, that's random

Berkeley is too much of liberal cesspool for me. I need at least some political diversity.

Haha, I only said UCI to address your hatred towards the school. I don't think the LGBT factor will affect your outcome, being AA will have a much more significant boost. So, is this question more or less asking which schools would be most accepting? I would imagine most law schools atmospheres would be welcoming. Of course I am not part of the LGBT community, so I can't offer any more than my own assumption and how I would treat others in such a situation. I hope a current student may be able to help you with this.

My concern is not which school would be most welcoming. I just want to know which school's adcoms would give boost to a LGBT.

Dear Class of 2016,

Enclosed with this email you will find an application for the M. Katherine Baird Darmer Equality Scholarship. Awarded to current or incoming law students, who demonstrate a commitment to advancing equality for the LGBT community.
Got this today from UCI today, just super saiyan.

IDC about advancing equality for the LGBT community, even if I'm LGBT. I just care about getting a fucken boost for being LGBT.

And UCI? Are you trolling? I would never go there!

Don't you mean you would never go "TTTTTTTThere"?

http://www.lgbtrc.uci.edu/

seems like UCI takes its LGBT seriously.

Also, Berkeley is a cesspool? If you want a boost for being gay you probably want to look at the "liberal cesspools"

IDC if UCI take LGBT seriously. IDC. IDC.

Berkeley is just TOO liberal. There is no diversity.

dre, you're LGBT? this is exciting. +1 for the team.

I think michigan likes their gays. Not sure about others. NYU it's commonplace, I think.

It won't provide a real boost (as many things don't), but if you have a cool story or something, it might happen.

Was 2012 your cycle or is it going to be 2013?

I feel that. I kind of get creeped out when people are overly LGBT. Like, I have the same sentiment in that I enjoy when we're not hated, but it's like I could do without the excessive stuff.

Cool cool, I'm this cycle too. Taking in June, but might retake in Oct from the way things are looking. Good to know that I have at least one LGBT person to talk to about our side of the apps. I live in fear that they're going to send shit to my house after I out myself in my apps D:

Don't let this emo sentiment slide into applications, dooder. Good way to crush any boost you might get.

Iowa will not give you a boost. Being as I am in the "LGBT community" I asked them how this would impact an application. Long story short... they don't care if you're gay, but they love it if you're black. :?

It would seem that there is a hierarchy of minority status in law school applications. Being gay just doesn't rate very highly. At least that is what I've found in my very preliminary search.
