Is it a terrible idea to send an updated personal statement?

Post by imcool19 » Tue Jan 22, 2013 1:39 pm

I tweaked some parts of my personal statement and fixed one sentence that sounded awkward.
I know I should have done this before I submitted my apps, but do you think I'll look like an idiot if I re-submit it?

(I understand it'll be an addendum, not a replacement.)

Why? It'll only draw their attention to the awkwardness in the first one. Also, having an extra thing to review could slow down the decision process.

Unless it is a huge travesty, I would not draw attention to it. Its almost better than they think it sounded ok in your head than you did not take the time to do a good job the first time.

This. There's always a chance that AdComms will read over your awkward wording without noticing it.
