I have no idea which forum is most appropriate for this.
I'm 46 years old. I'm in Memphis.
I can get into Memphis and not add a lot of debt over the 3 years; maybe an extra $25k over my undergrad loans. I can do this with minimal, if any, LSAT prep.
I can bust my ass for 5 months and hypothetically/maybe score a 165-170 (maybe even a little higher), get some decent scholarship and with living expenses maybe be out an extra $60k over my undergrad loans.
When I graduate I'll be 51 years old. At this age does rank even matter considering how firms will likely ding me for being an old fart?
High LSAT & T14 ($60k added debt) vs. T3 school in town...? Forum

At your age, I wouldn't want to take on any debt (hell, at my age, I was unwilling to attend at sticker)
That being said, bust your ass on the LSAT and see if Vandy might pony up

He said he's from Memphis, and presumably wants to stay in the area. At 51 you aren't going to be a target for big firms, so there's no sense in going to a big fancy school (unless they are offering serious scholys). I think you should shoot for something in-between TTT and T14. As another poster said, if you can get Vandy to shell out, that's a great choice. But, U. of Tennessee is an okay school, and residents get a huge deduction in tuition. Job placement isn't great, but if you aren't aiming too high, and don't go into too much debt, I think it's a good way to go.
