Pass/fail grades on transcript
How do top schools look at a "P" for pass on the transcript?
I'm asking because I want to take some courses that are interesting, but may hurt my GPA.
By taking it as a P/F course, I can be free from such stress since P's don't have any affect on my GPA...
But I already have a few, so I'm wondering how adcoms will view P's peppered here and there.

If you have a ton, they may wonder why and think it's a bit sketch. But they won't care much.

Re: Pass/fail grades on transcript
I have a bunch on my transcript, but it hasn't hurt me too bad. I'm getting into the same schools I would expect to if my transcript had no P/F grades, so I do think it's mostly a non-factor. I feel like you're fine unless 30/32 of your grades were "pass" and you had a 4.0 GPA because your other 2 classes were A's, in which case it might be too much.

Sort of off topic but do most schools let you take a lot of P/f courses? I was told I could Bly take one(although i may have misinterpreted that and it may mean only one course in my major can be p/f).02889 wrote:I have a bunch on my transcript, but it hasn't hurt me too bad. Well, I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer, as I went to one of those crazy liberal schools where grades don't matter, and we're all too distracted by hugging each other to learn anything anyway.Dmini7 wrote:Sort of off topic but do most schools let you take a lot of P/f courses? I have a ton of these through the "Community College of the Air Force" and military courses. They don't count towards GPA at all. They are included in my CAS report but don't have any bearing on anything. If you are military, I'm sure they see this all the time.
