Do LoR from Adjuncts carry any weight?
One adjunct professor in whose class i did very well in agreed to write me a letter. I was talking to an associate professor today and he told me that an adjunct professor's LoR is not great because if a law school tries to look him up on the school's webpage or faculty list, he wont be there and that would spark a red flag.
Was the associate professor accurate?

TAs aren't on the website either, and their letters often carry more weight than the prof's would.

Professor is 100% wrong. Adjunct is fine.

Yes, adjuncts are totally fine. Plus, every school I've looked at lists adjuncts in their faculty directory if they're currently teaching there. If they're not currently teaching there, presumably this adjunct will put his non-law school contact information in the letter, and he'll explain in the letter that he knows you because you took his class when he taught at school x, so... the associate prof has no idea wtf he's talking about.

LOR don't mean shit, unless its from the president himself (or some other very high up person).

Lol, okay. Just remember that law school admissions is a numbers game. They see those generic letters over and over with the same "this student works hard, blah blah, moar bullshit here, etc." They mean very little for most people, if anything at all.

LOL at professors having any "prestige." they are just a bunch pf self-congratulatory ass clowns trying to perpetuate the scam that pays their bloated wages and gives them meaningless awards cooked up by their buddies in the shitcademy.

good point. But I made this thread not about the prestige, but about the suspicions law schools could get by not seeing the adjunct listed anywhere on the law school's site?

Completely irrelevant and unfounded.itachiuchiha wrote:stillwater wrote:LOL at professors having any "prestige." they are just a bunch pf self-congratulatory ass clowns trying to perpetuate the scam that pays their bloated wages and gives them meaningless awards cooked up by their buddies in the shitcademy.

Like I mentioned above, some of the best LoRs come from people who have no business being listed on the website. If the law school you're applying to has questions, they can contact the individual directly.

Re: Do LoR from Adjuncts carry any weight?
Like most have said, the content is what matters. I only had adjuncts because those were the ones I had the best classroom experiences with at the time I started applying. I could have had tenured professors write me a couple LORs but I figured it would be too generic since they usually lecture in the biggest classes. They hardly knew me. The adjuncts, however, loved my work ethic and class participation.
