If only one school in the top 50 offered you acceptance
If only one school in the top 50 offered you acceptance in state at sticker of 15k, would you take it?
Imagine: this is the ONLY school in the top 50 who took you.
What would you do in this situation.
Just a hypothetical. do not answer: RETAKE
Apparantly at TLS, RETAKE is the answer to everything.

Depends where in the top 50, since you didn't specify.

Actually I would probably make a hypothetical post on TLS asking a question that no one could possibly answer in any substantive way

Yup, definitely a question that nobody could answer in any substantive way.

Re: If only one school in the top 50 offered you acceptance
Here is the best that you can answer this question without a lot of information.
Obviously 15k is a low sticker price, but with CoL you may be looking at close to 100k without adding opportunity costs. This may be a good choice for a very few who have no other career options, little existing debt, a way to reduce CoL , by living at home for instance, and have a strong drive to succeed. Still then this is gamble because there are likely not a lot of biglaw options out of a school such as this one and not a lot of other legal jobs at all. People will suggest retaking and reapplying next year because this may allow you much better options out of a t14 school. This is probably the better route for almost everyone who is not too risk adverse. Even if you are risk adverse, you could retake/reapply for full ride to instate school.

The only substantive answers to your original question are "retake" or "we need more information".itachiuchiha wrote:"What would you do in this situation?"francesfarmer wrote:Actually I would probably make a hypothetical post on TLS asking a question that no one could possibly answer in any substantive way
Yup, definitely a question that nobody could answer in any substantive way.
Going on the latter... Is it the highest-ranked school in the state? Is this the state you want to live/work in when you graduate? What are your stats? What other schools did you apply to? What are your career goals?
You asked a question that nobody can answer in any substantive way. If you want more substantive answers, you should give more substantive information first.

Without posting what school it is, what you want to do with your law degree, what your LSAT was, etc., this thread is a waste of time and internet space.

Id probably take GA, OSU, UFL, or UNC in-state if I had significant local ties, knew I wanted to be a lawyer for very concrete reasons, TOTAL COA w/ interest and living is <50k, and didnt mind working a 40k-60k job.

Re: If only one school in the top 50 offered you acceptance
If you'd be getting in-state tuition, I assume you have ties to the region. If that's true AND if the school is not in a market dominated by better schools, then it could be a solid choice.
But you should still retake. Why limit your options that way?

Re: If only one school in the top 50 offered you acceptance
I would pray that this school is a very large public university that regularly updates its HR website, so that I would have a natural ground on which to network for a non-law job when I lose my coin flip.
I don't know how hard 1Ls or other desperate law students gun for jobs on campus, but that's something that I would do as a back-up plan at schools like UF, UNC, OSU, etc. On top of researching for a professor for 1L summer, I would hope to volunteer or find a summer job on campus to potentially gain a leg up in hiring later.
Who knows, might even be PSLF eligible.
