How Much Time Did U Spend Researching Schools & Admission?
OL here currently reseraching law school and the legal field.
So far have done a lot of reading up on what law school and the law field is like (I'm trying to figure out if I even want to go), but not that much on the admissions process and schools.
A junior right now in UG and will be prepping LSAt starting Jan. and will also be busy with my UG's honor's program.
Just to get a sense of timeframe and amt. of time needed, how much time did you guys put into reseraching the admissions process and specific schools? Did you start a year before applying? 6 months before applying? Several years before applying? Was there a checklist of things you wanted/neeeded to know about the admissions process and/or specific schools?
Lastly, is it too early to even research specific schools if you've not even taken the LSAT and are not a senior yet?
Thanks.

Are you trying to break some record for most threads created in a week?
Here's everything you need to read about the admissions processes of any school you might ever want to attend: http://www.mylsn.info.
It's a numbers game, dude. Study for the LSAT until you're practicing four or five points above the score that makes the schools you want to go to turn bright green.
ETA: I've spent about three years on TLS doing the sort of research you're talking about.

I would focus on UG atm - and the LSAT when you get to it. You'll have plenty of time to research schools. You'll want to look out for NLJ stats when they come out, depending on your goals/score. You may want to pay attention to what schools are doing with tuition discounts, but that's pretty easily searchable on LSN late in the cycle.
I've spent too much time doing this. I successfully freaked myself out enough to not go, then reapply and do it all over again. fml

Seriously, about 4 years. It always seemed like a bad idea, which is why I didn't go for the longest time. But every time my contract ended I'd think that I have to do something with my life and get a graduate degree to find stable employment. Eventually I couldn't renew my contract again and just took the plunge into law school. I should've spent more time researching, to be honest.

I spent way too much time researching schools, mainly because I'm so freakin excited for it (yeah, I'm one of those pre-law people). I wish I'd spent more time on the LSAT. Don't worry about researching schools until after you take the LSAT. You really won't have an idea of WHERE to apply until then anyway.
