[C&F] Do I need to disclose?

Post by seeksik » Mon Nov 26, 2012 6:10 pm

I need help figuring this out...

This is so embarrassing but... here's the story: in my freshman year in college, I was accused of stealing my roommate's stuff. And it is partially true and I absolutely regret it. There was no police involved or anything, not even a hearing.. but I ended up being reassigned to a different resident hall. I think a sanction was issued at the resident hall level. Do I absolutely need to disclose this?

I'm scared because stealing sounds so much worse than say, drug violations. :(

If you have any hesitation about answering an CF question, you MUST say yes and let them decide whether or not they care. Sucks but that's the way it is..

It's probably better to disclose all, rather than hide things and let them come back and bite you in the ass. :D

If possible, I'd leave out the "it was partially true but I feel bad" part. Just say something like

"During my Freshman year of College I was accused of X. No police were involved, the consequences were Y."

It's not a confessional booth, the school just needs to cover its ass for when you take the bar.
