What if your school switches tiers?
What if i were to go to a school like the University of Florida Law which is ranked around the latter portion of tier one. What if they were to drop down to tier 2 after I graduate? Would jobs see me as graduating from a tier 1 school or a tier 2 school?
I hope you understood my question, any response is appreciated!
Cheers

Legal employers will hire exactly the same amount of people from UF as they would have otherwise.

I emphatically disagree. All the evidence suggests that employers fled schools like BC/BU in DROVES and did OCI at Washington and ASU. See also how UT's OCI stats skyrocketed when it broke the T14 1 year.Dany wrote:Legal employers will hire exactly the same amount of people from UF as they would have otherwise.

A shift into a lower USNews ranking tier may affect application volume, but not recruiting.

Re: What if your school switches tiers?
While I wouldn't say the drop is irrelevant, it would be irrelevant to 99% of all graduates. I say that because I remember when Alabama enter the group of schools ranked 30 or higher, the number of employers on campus recruiting increased by 20%. I doubt it was a coincidence. But, because only people at the tip top of the class acquired OCI type jobs anyway, the increase of employers was irrelevant to 98%ish of the class (only 2%ish of the class was likely affected by the increase). If U of Florida fell some, it may lose a handful employers that probably didn't hire at least 1 person each from the school every year. So basically, it's irrelevant to -almost- every student.
As CanadianWolf stated, the real issue is that applications would drop significantly, and that would make it more difficult for U of Florida to move back up.
