Heard it before, but

Post by warandpeace » Mon Nov 05, 2012 7:48 pm

I know this has been asked a lot, and I'm familiar with the topic, but hear me out:

In terms of your undergraduate school's "prestige," is this really a big factor in terms of admissions? I heard that LSAT/GPA are most important, but undergraduate matters in terms of employment. That's fine. But why, on Law school numbers, do the ones who receive acceptances all come from a "T20" or "T10" or "Ivy" (always listed in details)? Is this maybe more of a cause for concern than others would have us believe?

If I'm up against someone who comes from a good school, and I go to a cal state, and our numbers are similar, they're always going to be chosen, right?

Thanks for the help guyz

The general consensus is that it's a tie breaker against someone with similar numbers, but a good school won't trump better numbers

Correlation ≠ causation.

It matters very very little. It's just where the majority of applicants scoring that high on the LSAT went to UG. Also, those people are the only ones that bother to list their UG which makes it seem more prevalent.

That's a really good point, never thought of that. Lol if I went to a good school, I'd mention it too.
