LSDAS GPA Culinary School
I know there are already hundreds of posts by people who are concerned about the difference between their UGPA and the LSDAS one. I, however, think I have an entirely original situation.
Straight out of high school, I attended the Culinary Institute of America, my grades from which are pulling my LSDAS GPA down from a 3.94 to a 3.46. Is this situation worth submitting an addendum, and does anyone think it would help? I certainly feel as though my C in Fish Fabrication and my B- in Garde Manger are not really relevant to my performance in law school, but I understand that law schools generally care mainly about the numbers. It does suck though, considering I am not making up for a freshman year as an undergrad that involved no more than drinking and sleeping until late afternoon everyday.
So is this addendum worthy or not, and will it factor in at all?

If ever a GPA addendum was a good idea other than personal or family illness, this seems like the time. It will probably be self apparent to them from looking at your transcript, but I would absolutely throw in a page or so explanation.

You can try. But Fish Fabrication isn't any less relevant than Semiconductor Devices to law school. And they sure as fuck counted that for me.

These grades were entirely separate from my undergrad degree. Only two 1.5 credit hour classes transferred to my current university, whereas the credits you earned for Semiconductor Devices most likely counted towards your Bachelors, or were taken in a previous major but were counted as elective credits. You can try. Addendum-worthy? Probably not, what are you going to say? I am bad at cooking?
Will it change your outcome? Definitely not. Schools have to report your LSDAS GPA whether you have a great or terrible excuse, so they have no real reason to treat you differently on this basis.

In a word, yes. And I wasn't really bad, I got mainly Bs.Addendum-worthy? Probably not, what are you going to say? I am bad at cooking?

I mean, it's an interesting thing about you I guess, but since you don't really have a good "excuse" for not having strong grades, and you didn't actually finish the program, it seems like any addendum would mostly just highlight the fact you didn't finish culinary arts school. Seems like a more harm than good situation.xx7714xx wrote:In a word, yes. And I wasn't really bad, I got mainly Bs.Addendum-worthy? Probably not, what are you going to say? I am bad at cooking?
