Traffic Violations
How do you go about disclosing traffic violations for applications? Should I just list them, or put a little detail into what happened? Thanks.

Character & Fitness Addendum for [XX] School
On [date], I was cited by the [City] Police Department for [Violation]. I appeared in traffic court and [payed a fine of $X/the judge reduced the fine to $Y/was sentenced to driver's education/whatever].
rinse, repeat
If you've got more than a couple of violations, you may need to write something about how you have since matured and haven't had a ticket in [X] years. (If you're still getting tickets, then learn how to drive.)

Re: Traffic Violations
I just put:
On or about the following months, I received a traffic violation.
Month/year, city, violation, outcome.
Repeat
Repeat
Repeat
I had a lot (A LOT) so I also put a little disclaimer about any omissions not being intentional but the result of passage of time and lack of memory, and I wasn't trying to hide anything. Since I listed a ton, I guess they figured I was being truthful.
I got passed through C&F just fine.

Re: Traffic Violations
I indicated that I had been cited for numerous speeding violations over my 20+ years of driving, none of them in excess of 25 mph over the speed limit and all but one of which were dismissed through state-permitted driver education or deferred adjudication orders. I did not elaborate.

Re: Traffic Violations
I thought you didn't have to put minor traffic violations/parking violations...

Be sure to read the C&F for each school carefully. Some want more than others.shadowofjazz wrote:I thought you didn't have to put minor traffic violations/parking violations...

Re: Traffic Violations
I'll keep an eye out. So far the open apps I've filled out have specified to not include minor traffic violations (Chicago, Cornell, Duke)suzige wrote:Be sure to read the C&F for each school carefully.
