Honestly, it probably won't matter at all to admissions that your recommender is an alumni. The LoR is so far down on the list of importance itself.
However, it certainly couldn't hurt, and it sounds like he/she (you're very gender-neutral in your language) has offered to help out specifically with his/her alma mater. If it's not going to be a big deal, go for it.

If the person is enthusiastic about helping you, then there's no harm in asking for 2 letters.
I asked my boss to write a general letter, and then if he didn't mind to please make another version that threw in a few comments about him being an alumnus of one school (HYS). He was happy to do it.
