My dilemma is this: I can't imagine asking my boss for a law school LoR, because then it is clear that I do not desire to work there anymore. The problem is, I'll only attend law school if my cycle goes how i want it to. If not, i want to continue working at my present job. Moreover, I want to be considered for a promotion (even if only for a year before law school). But expressing my desire to go to law school will likely destroy any chance of promotion.
Any thoughts on this? Considering NU is my target school and they put a higher value on employer LoRs than other schools...

And might give you a bargaining chip when the promotion rolls around - "Promote me, or it's time for law school."stephinmd wrote:i had my employer write me one. it didn't seem to adversely affect my performance reviews or anything.
Seriously, though, this is a question that only you can really answer. Could it go poorly for you? Yes. Could it work out? Yes. We don't know your boss, so try to think about how he might react and go from there.

I remember when I was looking through "Getting To Maybe" and the author talked a lot about the fact that the number one promblem law students have is they look for definite answers in the law...
I feel like "in the law" could have been left off.
