When to Ask Recommenders?

Post by jstacks » Mon Jul 16, 2012 12:31 pm

Any advice on when I should ask potential recommenders if they'll write a letter for me?

Are you applying this upcoming cycle?

If so, as soon as possible. It takes time for them to write it, send it to LSAC, and for LSAC to upload it.

Yesterday.

Some recommenders are nice and prompt, but there are always horror stories of people taking six months and then finally going out of contact, without ever writing a letter. Request those letters ASAP and get them taken care of.

Thank you both! I have just emailed my recommenders.
