Columbia - study abroad transcripts
hey everyone, i've read here and there on this forum that columbia will sometimes ask for your grades during your semester/year studying abroad. I was wondering how often does this happen?
I'm doing a semester abroad and the grades are supposed to show up as pass/no pass on the transcript of my original university. Ideally I would like to study hard but also spend time exploring, so I'm trying to gauge if I should still ensure that I get high grades over everything else.
thanks!

Have you already submitted your transcript to LSAC? If not you are going to have to get them your study abroad transcript regardless.

Yes but does LSAC automatically show the study abroad transcript to the law schools that I apply to? I thought that law schools usually don't look at study abroad grades?

I stand corrected:

And they won't care regardless.
Don't worry about itLSAC wrote:Do not have a transcript sent from an international institution if your bachelor's degree is from a US, US territory, or Canadian school, AND:
*the total amount of work you completed at all international institutions combined is equal to or less than the equivalent of one year of undergraduate study in the United States, its territories, or Canada, OR
* your work was completed through an overseas study program that was clearly sponsored by a US, US territory, or Canadian school

And they won't care regardless.

I studied abroad for 1 semester and I am heading to CLS in the Fall. The grades showed up as P/F on my UG transcript and neither LSAC or CLS asked for actual documents from my French school. You shouldn't have anything to worry about.

My understanding was that if your UG counts the grades as P/F, then they will show up like that in LSAC with no issues. But if your UG uses the actual grades, then they will just show up in LSAC just like regular grades.
If all that is true, you can screw around all you want as long as you pass.

What program are you doing it through? If it's hosted by a US university (ie, NYU, Syracuse, etc), it'll be counted.

Re: Columbia - study abroad transcripts
I did it through some crappy no-name program. Given the late date, I just asked my study abroad Dean from my UG, who has the transcripts, to send them through.
