GPA Percentile
I submitted my transcript to LSAC and in the report it says what percentage your gpa is for your school. My percentage is 88%, does that affect school admission or do they just care about the number 3.82?

They pretty much just care about your cum. GPA, since that's what they report for rankings purposes. They may glance at your percentile and mentally note that your school must have had really tough/easy grading, but it would be a tiny tiebreaker factor at most.

Also is a 3.8 being a 88% show that the school is hard, easy or normal

I have no idea because I don't know other percentiles at other schools off the top of my head. Adcomms will be seeing hundreds of apps, so they would have a better idea.lawschoolboundfuture wrote:Also is a 3.8 being a 88% show that the school is hard, easy or normal
You can't change it now, and you can't get LSAC to leave it off your app, so there is no point in worrying about it.

(By that, I meant that it doesn't really matter. The difficulty of the school isnt important)

Re: GPA Percentile
Say that's about normal? My school has %20 at 3.7 and it's a huge, fairly regionally prestigious school. Also keep in mind that your UG GPA percentile may not take into account your entire GPA as LSDAC would calculate it. I've taken 38 hours worth of courses outside of my current university (freshmen year before transfer, summer classes at a community college) so my LSDAC GPA is heavily influenced by factors that would fall outside of that percentile.lawschoolboundfuture wrote:Also is a 3.8 being a 88% show that the school is hard, easy or normal

I don't think percentiles of your undergrad matter for much of anything. Law schools are much more concerned with the numbers they have to report to USNEWS than anything else. Sorry to say, but a 3.5 in nuclear engineering won't get you as far as a 3.9 in interpretive dance.
