Unique Situation-Transffering colleges twice-will it kill me
I attended a new england prep school and was a terrible student. nearly failed out. average was a 1.4 or so.... I got admitted to a local state college and chose to attend. I attended this state college for a year, and transferred to the flagship state. I am currently finishing up my sophomore year at said flagship state college, and have been accepted to a top 30 USnews university that i will be HAPPY at. Will accepting this long desired happiness kill my law school chances? I will have been to 3 different undergrads, 3 different transcripts to send.
Freshman-state
Soph-flagship state
junior/senior-top university (i geuss "top")
my dream is stanford/berkeley/georgetown. I am currently starting my LSAT grind
Thanks in advance, I am new at this and I will welcome any suggestions, tips, criticisms etc.

Depends entirely on what your LSAC-generated GPA ends up being.

Alright...my GPA in each school has been a 3.8+. Will they just look at GPA and not throw my app in the trash because i've been to 3 schools?
Also, thanks for the fast reply I will be frequenting here more often in the months to come

They won't care whether you've been to 1 school, 3 schools, or 30 schools.
They will care about your LSAC GPA (which counts every single college grade you get until your first bachelors degree).

Another question-will being Asian prove to be a disadvantage for law school admissions as it has been suggested to be for undergrad? Should i add 1-2 points onto the Law school predictor?

I had FOUR schools on my transcript (I only transferred once, in reality, but lived in a rural area and went to a campus that was a 'group effort' of two state universities and a community college, so had classes from all three on my transcript).
Nobody cared. Your GPA will count the same as everyone else's.

OP, I transferred schools three times and the only affect it had on my application was in the LSAC calculated GPA. The reason for this was because one institution I attended gave +'s and -'s, whereas the institution I graduated from only gave straight letter grades. Therefore, my GPA actually was determined to be quite a bit lower by LSAC than it was by my degree-granting institution.
I was accepted to several great schools and participated in a few interviews and it never came up. Just to echo the sentiment in here, it is your GPA that matters, not the number of institutions attended.

This. Sounds like you'll have an addendum to explain this rather unique journey, but your GPA is what will ultimately matter.mushybrain wrote:Depends entirely on what your LSAC-generated GPA ends up being.

Thanks for the information guys. Do you guys think I will have a chance at stanford, georgetown in 2 years? It would be complete reinvention for someone like me who barely graduated highschool (repeated 9th grade, too) to get into a school as amazing as stanford... BTW I will probably be attending UNC-Chapel Hill for my junior and senior years

Completely depends on your final GPA and LSAT. Stanford might also care about your soft factors.partypajamas wrote:Thanks for the information guys. I would say that to get into any of the elite schools would qualify as an impressive turn around. So even if you don't get Stanford, don't berate yourselfpartypajamas wrote:Thanks for the information guys. Do you guys think I will have a chance at stanford, georgetown in 2 years? There is reason to believe it will be less competitive. See here:partypajamas wrote:would you guys say that it will get more competitive in 2 years? or stay same? i know college admissions is increasingly more and more bloodbathy each year.

Schos will not care about you transferring schools. They are most concerned with your GPA and LSAT score
