Will applying ED affect my chances of $$$?
I've searched for this question a few times but never found an answer.
I'm applying to my absolute dream school. Without coming out and saying "OMG I'M YOUR #1 FAN", I want to make it clear that this is my top choice. I thought of applying ED, but getting absolutely no $$ would obviously affect my decision. Do schools take advantage of the ED option to give out less $?

If you apply ED, expect to get no scholarship money. Most schools take advantage of not giving scholarship money to ED admits. Michigan is the only exception I know of (and really, that seems imprudent).

Yes! I truly think that applying ED is only a good idea if you are not debt averse, and it is your only chance at the t-14. I would not sacrifice the chance of getting $ at Cornell for the chance to go to UVA, or getting $ at Penn for the chance to get into NYU.

Also keep in mind that Northwestern, GW, and BU all offer full rides to ED admits.

Is this true at Northwestern? I've seen this mentioned in passing on TLS but couldn't find anything official to confirm it.Tiago Splitter wrote:Also keep in mind that Northwestern, GW, and BU all offer full rides to ED admits.

It is definitely true at NU. This year was the first year though.annet wrote:Is this true at Northwestern? I think the answer to this question depends on what school it is.
