I've been following TLS intensively for about 2 months now after learning more about the application process from an informational session at my school.
My question is in regards to the effect that my particular grade situation will have on my chances at getting into a law school.
So I started off college with a 3.2 in my first semester, and every semester since then, it has risen, reaching my 5th semester gpa of 3.81. The problem is that this semester, I'm taking intermediate accounting and I am not doing so well. I expect that I will receive a D in the class. I'm currently an Accounting major, but will be switching to finance after this semester. I don't have any reasonable excuse to be included in an addendum, so I was wondering how detrimental will this D letter grade be, if I have a 3.5 cumulative GPA at application time. I'm worried that they'll see my GPA upward trend and then wonder why it declined at such a late semester in my college career.
My reach school is Berkeley, but I have read that they are unusual in that they give more weight to GPA than to the LSAT. I am also interested in USC, UCLA, NYU, and Hawaii (I'm from Hawaii).
I'm a fairly good test-taker, and I don't know what I would score, but I will be studying intensively for the LSAT. (Cold diagnostic at 159)
Any and all help is much appreciated!
