Big difference between 3.16 and 3.17? Forum

Hey everyone,

I need your advice on something. I'm about to wrap up my last quarter of undergrad and I'm trying to decide if I should take a 2-unit course as P/NP or grade option. If I get an A in this class (which may be difficult because the TA is a bitch when it comes to grading), it would bump me up to a 3.17 LSAC GPA rather than a 3.16. But, if I took it as P/NP I would avoid the possibility of ruining my expected 4.0 GPA for the quarter. I know this sounds ridiculous to worry about a .01 difference, but with my GPA, I need as much help as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Only would matter if a school was targeting a 3.16 median and if they are you shouldn't be going there anyway.

It's hard for me to believe that this is actually a serious question. 3.16 vs. 3.17? Let's just for a moment consider that that .01 *would* end up being make or break at some school you are just dying to attend. You imply that you'd need an A to get that bump to get that magic 3.17, but also that an A might be difficult to get thanks to a "bitchy" TA. Let's say you don't get the A...where would that leave you? Is the risk worth the reward?

I'm with that other poster...go take a walk, get some fresh air, look at the stars, and forget this inner-struggle ever took place.

The only time .01 would ever matter (and I doubt it would, still) is if it was a 3.99 vs a 4.0. The 4.0 is just more aesthetically pleasing.
