Honors Societies
Not sure where to put this since it's more of a general question, not one relating to law school admissions. Please move the thread if it's not in the appropriate forum.
I've been invited to join Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa and was wondering which of the two was more prestigious/ more worth the membership fee. I've already heard back from schools so this wouldn't be an attempt to improve my admissions changes. Just curious about what the general consensus is since I really have no idea...I'm going to pick one of the two regardless so which one is more notable/would look better on a resume?
Thanks!

Hi. I don't really think it makes much of a difference in your cycle. From what I understand though, PBK is pretty prestigous. In fact, at the law firm where I work, some of the attorneys who were Phi Beta Kappa have it under their personal bios on the website. Here is how I think about it: in this case, an attorney's educational/academic achievements are condensed down to four lines, and in those four lines Phi Beta Kappa is included. That probably says something about how prestigous it is.

Yeah PBK is by far the best honors society. Not much of a debate.t.o.o wrote:Thanks! Any more opinions?

Phi Beta Kappa is one of the best honors societies around. I've never heard of the other one. Congrats!

Re: Honors Societies
I've seen PBK on firm websites so I'd go with that.
