Best consulting company to get into harvard?

Post by gaucholaw » Tue Mar 27, 2012 10:30 pm

Hello, I live in California and I'm looking to find the best consultant for getting into Harvard. Even better if the consultant somehow has connections with the admissions office

Is this a flame?

Getting into Harvard is almost entirely about numbers (GPA and LSAT). A consultant can't help with that.

"Connections" will not help.

Really, the only thing a consultant could help with would be your personal statement, but you can find people to help you with that for much less than a consultant would charge.

By someone he means himself. He may not remember but AntipodeanPhil REALLY REALLY helped me on my PS turning it from a complete POS to something that was only 50% a POS 8)

Seriously, he did help mine and others on TLS will probably help yours. Other than that.. its all about the numbers

People who worked for McKinsey seem to place well into HLS.

While I agree that lsat and gpa account for the largest part... I do think a consultant can help wrap the bow-tie on the package so to speak, regardless, I do not wish to enter into that debate

I will definitely be hiring a consultant, and I would appreciate it if anyone on TLS could point me in a direction

thanks!

LOL. I don't remember that. I gave up helping people with their PSs a while back, after spending three hours helping the same guy and making no significant progress - but there are certainly plenty of others here who would help.

Listen, you're right a good consultant could help, and before the Internet I'd understand their worth. Now you gave all the information you could need at your fingertips so I don't really see why you'd want to waste $.

Also, sorry i dont know of any if you are set on this route

Easiest way to get into HLS is to transfer in. Would you like my PayPal address?

well, I was hoping I'd get a serious response or two, but I guess I'll have to find one on my own

? You did, you just didn't get the answer you wanted. Look at that chart and tell me how this is not just a numbers game? (any of your "hey look that person isn't close to that circle and got in... I need a consultant to become 1 of those!"). Yea, those are urms

Youre asking for a golden ticket that doesn't exist "especially someone with connections!" won't help. Idk what else we can tell you....

Get good grades and kill the LSAT. If your gpa is already too low than I'm sorry it might not be a realistic goal.

If you are desperate to blow money just google law school admissions consultant and choose one of them to waste a lot of cash on. Whatever you gotta do to sleep at night...

OP, I hope you understand that I don't believe most of the feedback is with mean intentions (Although some are having fun). The truth is its very understandable why you originally thought a consulting company would work, many of us would probably debate this until we started to go through LS admission process and realized the reality of them being number whores

There's only 2 results to a consulting company

1. They're bad and tell you useless / unhelpful information
2. They're good and tell you its almost all about lsat / gpa (still a waste of $)

Get those as high as you can.

Softs are pretty much tie breakers, and when you're applying to such an elite school as HLS it can start to have an impact (still mostly numbers). These things include : WE, internships, awards, accomplishments, what you are involved in, volunteering, etc... You may think "BUT WHAT WOULD THEY WANT!!!" Really no specific field or anything

For your PS go the PS forum / a writing center if you're still in UG.

For your LOR they prefer academic, and "Status" doesn't matter as much as how much they know / how glowingly they will write about you (how much substance they can put behind this). I'd have 2 academic and then maybe a 3rd from another source (a boss of some sorts possibly?)

I also believe Harvard has some type of phone interview program if you pass the initial wave. There are threads on here in which many people discuss what was asked. Apparently its pretty straight forward, questions such as "Why are you interested in law school"

For now, the most important thing for you is to CRUSH THE LSAT. You don't really know if Harvard is a possibility before then, but the higher your score the better your options will be.

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.
