Taking class for 2 credits(it's a 4 credit course)LSAC GPA?
I am currently enrolled in a 4 credit course that I am taking for reduced credit (2 credits)
I did not fail it previously or anything I just had to take it for reduced credit because I had taken a class previously that overlapped with the current class enough.
ex) Previously took "Biology for business majors", now taking "actual biology" which is 4 credits but because I already took "bio for business majors" which covers much of the same material I have to take the 4 credit "actual biology"course for only 2 credits
Here is the question:
How will this factor into my LSAC GPA? Will it be weighed as if it were a typical 3 credit course? Will it be weighed as the 4 credit course that it is? Will it be weighed as two credits?

It just depends on what it looks like on your transcript. If it says 4 units on your final transcript, it'll be counted as 4 units. If it says 2 units, it'll be counted as 2 units.
The typical transcript will have class name, # of credits/units, and the grade you earned (with some swankier schools including the median/mean grade for each class e.g. Dartmouth). That's all that really matters. LSAC calculates your new GPA by weighing the grade you get in each class with the number of units that is listed next to that class.
From the way you described it, it seems like your grade in "Biology for business majors" will count for 4 credits/units and the grade from "actual biology" will count for 2 credits/units.
If you're not sure what it'll look like on your transcript, ask your UG.

Ok thank you for the actual response, this is what I assumed, it is just difficult because I can not easily see how many credits I am being awarded for as of yet because I am still in the semester, once grades post is a diferent story. Thanks again.JDizzle2015 wrote:It just depends on what it looks like on your transcript. If it says 4 units on your final transcript, it'll be counted as 4 units. That cannot be true in the bolded. Your current transcript will tell you the number of credits attempted. You will know this because your school has to know it to award financial aid and such. Go get an unofficial one, online, and look at the current semester.... you should have a section where your classes are listed as "In Progress" and show the number of hours attempted.Br3v wrote:Ok thank you for the actual response, this is what I assumed, it is just difficult because I can not easily see how many credits I am being awarded for as of yet because I am still in the semester, once grades post is a diferent story. Attempting x credits vs what the heck will be reflected on my transcript post grades is the question. I can see how many credits I am attempting, what I can not see is how many gpa points will be contributed towards my transcript though I imagine it to be 2 hence taking it for reduced creditspleenworship wrote:That cannot be true in the bolded. Oh, sorry, I get it. I apologize.Br3v wrote:

It shouldn't really matter though, right? Like, 2 credit hours, four credit hours... either way you want the best grade you can, right?
