Made mistake on app and already accepted
Hi everyone, I have sort of a complicated problem. In 2010, I got a ticket for an expired inspection on my car. My dad told me he would pay for it because it was technically his car and I never thought about it again. Apparently, he never paid it and the DMV sent letters to my parents house which my parents say they never got (although I have my doubts about that). Either way, I never thought about this stupid 30 dollar ticket again because I thought it was taken care of. Well my dad calls me last night and tells me that Geico. called him and told him I've had a suspended license the past year! Im so lucky that I was never pulled over during that time and all I have to do is pay a fine but that's not even my biggest concern. When I did my law schools apps I said "no" in regards to whether or not I have ever had a suspended license. I've since been accepted to Maryland and plan on going there. I know I have to call them and tell them but I'm so scared they will revoke my acceptance, not for the stupid ticket but for inadvertently lying on an application I swear that this was a huge mistake, I am someone who does everything by the book. I've never even had a speeding ticket but I'm afraid this is going to ruin everything for me. Does anyone have any advice?

Contact the school and let them know. That won't be grounds for them revoking your acceptance. Definitely let them know though. I'd call admissions and ask what materials they need from you (if an e-mail is alright or if they need something more formal).

Let them know. I forgot to add several speeding tickets to my application and my school was more than accommodating in allowing me to add them to my file.

While you are calling, unless you are going HYS, you should also tell them that you would like to withdraw your application.caiteden wrote:thank you, I feel much better!
Or just diclose the thing. C&F can screw you big time for failing to disclose.

I am planning on disclosing, I was just afraid my acceptance would be revoked and I was wondering if that would be the case.

Call & disclose. End of story. If murderers get into law school, a ticket isn't going to nix you.

To reiterate, you won't lose your acceptance over this. It's a common mistake, and the underlying ticket won't be something that they will care about. Let them know so you don't run into issues with C&F, take care of the ticket and suspended license, and relax!caiteden wrote:wait, what do you mean? Law school is a bad idea for like 95% of the people who do it. Google "Inside the Law School Scam" and read what Professor Campos of Colorado Law has to say about going to law school these days. If a law prof is telling you to think twice, then you prolly should.caiteden wrote:Okay, I'm going to call on my lunch break. thank u again for the advice!
Then, go look at the complaints in the class action lawsuits alleging that the named law schools committed FRAUD against their students. You can try JDU but those guys are a-holes.

But what are the chances that he will get admitted to the bar? He will likely be in debt fighting to get a license and the Tulane faculty will be sitting back enjoying his student loan money.llachans wrote:That poster's phrasing is confusing.caiteden wrote:wait, what do you mean? What schools require you to disclose speeding tickets? All of the schools I applied to specifically excluded minor traffic violations from the information they requested.FeelTheHeat wrote:Let them know. Varies by school. Some want any more than $200, some want all. I erred on the side of caution and just submitted everything I could get my hands on. Some of them I simply couldn't find (random ones that were dismissed from 2006, 2007 in high school) and stated as such on my disclosure statement.Genki wrote:What schools require you to disclose speeding tickets?
