Question about Deferring + My Situation = huh?

Post by boosk » Thu Feb 23, 2012 3:39 pm

If I submit a request to defer and it is granted (before the deposit deadline), does this automatically bind me to that school?

my situation: I've been accepted at Michigan and NYU, but I'm still holding out for the rest of YHSCC. I would like to defer for 1-2 years before matriculation, but I also want to get into the best school possible (duh). I'm also waiting on Financial Aid info from both M & N. What's my best strategic play here?

Any responses or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Some schools (such as H) in their deferral agreements ask if you have any "exceptions," which allows you to list any schools you're waiting to hear from that would change your ability to honor the deferral agreement. You should see if their deferral agreements have that option.

Yea, it all depends on the deferral agreement of that school. Call up the schools and ask to talk to someone about it - they're more than happy to lay your options out for you.
