Does UCLA match merit/need aid with other UC's and USC
If one were to negotiate scholarship with UCLA, would it be good to mention need/merit aid from Irvine, davis, etc. Or are those too shitty compared with UCLA. What about USC, would that rub them in the wrong way? Also, when is a good time to ask cause I am in Berkeley Faculty Review which its decision is march 7th. Should i wait for Berkeley to get more leverage?

Generally, UCLA will only consider matching or beating T10 scholarships and will offer some money if you have a big USC offer. It rarely offers a lot of money to people who only have big scholarships offers from lower ranked schools.

Re: Does UCLA match merit/need aid with other UC's and USC
Bumping this old thread to see if anyone else has feedback on this. I have a 20k/yr scholarship at UCLA and I'm wondering if it is worth letting them know about USC's offer of 40k/yr. Do you think they would match this? Should I wait till I hear back from other schools (I can't imagine I will get an offer larger than 40k/yr)?
Extra Info: I have only heard back from 4 of my 13ish applications - USC/UCLA are the only 2 that have come up with offers so far.

I don't understand your logic, nor the purpose of the question.
Just ask them for more money, worst that can happen is they say no

With its inferior employment stats, why do you even want to go to UCLA if it was equal cost to USC? Honest question.

TITCR. Better alumni network, better SoCal connections, bigger endowment, better employment stats.BigZuck wrote:With its inferior employment stats, why do you even want to go to UCLA if it was equal cost to USC? Honest question.

Connections, depends. LA law is run by UCLA grads. More so than USC IMO.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:TITCR. ETA: Business is a different story but those are undergrad ties.

Does it really matter who is "running it" if that school can't get you there at the same rate as another school?megagnarley wrote:Connections, depends. LA law is run by UCLA grads. At least lately USC has dominated in the jobs that TLS deems desirable.

Self-selection. UCLA grads are trying to save the world from Republicans. They're not shooting for BigLaw in the same numbers.
