Public Service Announcement

Post by ilovestandardtests » Fri Feb 17, 2012 4:49 am

Calling the degenerate, misfit, malcontent, corrupt, debased, debauched, degraded, demeaned, depraved, dissolute, failing, fallen, flatitious, immoral, infamous, low, mean, miscreant, nefarious, overripe, perverted, retrograde, retrogressive, rotten, sinking, vicious, villainous, vitiated, wicked, malcontent and convicts.

Or those progressing towards a near worthless humanities degree from a low-ranked, near prestigousless school more famous for cracking beers than books, I have an answer for you. It is called law school. Almost exactly three years ago I was exactly where you are now. A cumulative 2.3 GPA and three criminal convictions: Minor in Possession, Public Intoxication and a drug related Reckless Driving. Do not despair. The world is at your finger tips. The wonders of standardized testing and the near criminal lack of collegiate standards leave with you with the opportunity of a lifetime.

Two years of hard work, bullshit community service, involvement in student organizations with near unimaginably self-congratulatory and pompous peers, building relationships with professors, taking obscene numbers of units (I took 60 my senior year), learning the LSAT, writing a personal statement about how youve matured (I wrote about something else), apply and then kickback watch the T14 acceptanecs roll in.

The true lesson in all of this is, criminal or not, its never too late to make it happen--scratch that, sometimes it is too late.

I hear you. It is a good feeling when you work to turn your life around, and then you have something that confirms you are doing well. Good luck man.
