If you define "naysayers" as people who give generalized advice that apply to the vast majority of situations, sure.... yeah, I guess there are naysayers.

To the OP, I sincerely doubt that your LOR's made the difference. What you said earlier - you had a very high GPA is what Emory take you. They play the rankings game just like everybody else.
