How does one go about applying for a 'Biglaw' job if one decides to do a clerkship or public interest work right after graduation? Or is this even possible?

Clerkship: (typically) Interview for biglaw firms start of 2L -> spend 2L summer with a biglaw firm -> get offer -> get clerkship offer -> do 3L -> do clerkship -> return to biglaw firm you did 2L summer with (or another biglaw firm—if your clerkship was good, you'll have options).

Public interest is more iffy. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, I think if you do public interest for a few years after graduation, you should probably write off biglaw.

Easier to get out of Biglaw than it is to get into it is the conventional wisdom. If you want to do it, do it out of school (after a clerkship, presumably).

BigLaw just takes the top grads from the top law schools-it's more of they pick u than u pick them. However, a judge will typically have connections w/ the big law guys and can prolly get you in if u do a great job for him
