How much do this semester's grades matter? Forum

Not sure if this belongs in this forum or not. I'm a splitter (numbers in profile) with a strong upward trend, graduating at the end of this semester. This semester is the hardest I've had in a while and I'm afraid that all the time taken off for ASWs, plus looking for a summer job, plus a general lack of motivation might lead to my GPA being a bit lower than the last few semesters.

How much should I stress grades? Will a drop affect my future internship/job prospects much?

Doesn't matter. Just pass/fail stuff if you can and relax.

Well my school doesn't offer pass/fail except for sport classes, but I'll try to relax. Anyone else care to weigh in with an anecdote?

No one really cares. I slacked off a lot my last semester, but only ended up with a 3.3333, so definitely not a C average. But I've heard from many people that as long as you don't get below a 2.0, you're OK (provided they've already accepted you and you're not one of those on-the-fence).

Anecdote (make your own deductions): friend had 3.0/179; still got into GULC where he was able to drink, slack, and still get a BigLaw job.

Cravath, Seward, some IP firms ask for undergrad transcript. Doesn't really seem to matter. No need to stress, unless you have a scholarship that you lose if your GPA dips below a certain level.
