Which gpa do I put

Post by sportsstar5 » Sat Jan 07, 2012 1:41 am

On the application, it asks for my gpa. Should I put the gpa that appears on my submitted transcripts, or should I put the lsac adjusted gpa, with other college credit and classes factored in? Thanks for your help.

I just filled out my apps yesterday and I had been leaving the gpa and class rank blank because I figured they'd be getting the official report from lsac anyways. Should I shoot them an email or just let it go?

Well, you really should have put that stuff in. Depends on the school. Call them up/email them and ask if they want it.

Okk. Yeah the reason I didn't was because the application I guess copied my school info from when I first signed up to lsac and it wasn't a required field so I left it blank then and just never changed it because I figured first they'd receive the official transcript/index and second I took a couple summer classes and totally forgot my actual gpa breakdown all I could remember is my lsac gpa

There's a difference in the GPA LSAC sends them than the regular GPA? What!? Wow so LSAc finds a way to screw up the other factor too. Amazing, these pinheads are omnipotent. This who law school admissions nonsense is so inherently corrupt that I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it. God only knows what LSAC did to my GPA.

You can't call them pinheads on this one because they evaluate all the grades the same. But yes I liken lsac to the ncaa. Why the Fuck do we need them.

Well I had to look up the NCAA but I agree with you.

Gone to "easy" undergrad, taken easy major and classes in anticipation of applying to law school. I was kidding, though -- mostly!

OP, are you sure the two GPAs are different? I just looked up my LSAC GPA and it is the same as my real-life one. So double check and you might realize that you don't even have the problem.

Yes, the lsac one is .5 points higher than my college one (it factors in credit from other colleges, adjustments, etc.). Thanks.

Well that's good news. I have been researching this and I read that it usually gets lower. So by .5 points higher do you mean like 3.75 ----> 3.8?

Yes, so I'm debating which gpa to put on applications that ask for it. They will see both from transcripts and from the lsac report, but I am unsure as to which to fill in. I don't want to put the higher one to make it seem like I'm trying to deceive them; I just want to do what's right and correct. Thanks.
