3 LSAT scores, 163, 164, 177

Post by Genthree » Wed Jan 04, 2012 7:34 pm

I was hoping to improve my LSAT by a few points and retook the test for the third time. I jumped from a 164 to a 177. How much is it going to hurt my overall chances having such a large jump and 2 lower scores?

It won't. Write an addendum for the schools that ask for one (ie: UChicago)

Wow huge congratulations. Just attach an addendum explaining why the large increase. My best friend's first score was a 163, but I'm hoping he'll get a similar jump when he takes in June and actually has time to study (in school, works 30+ hours a week).

Info on how multiple scores affect a person's cycle is actually hard to get since the data is somewhat limited. (This is in regards to the T14--most schools don't care at all.) I had 3 scores as well with two lower together and one in the mid 170s. I think I may have underperformed my numbers for CCN, but I don't think it had much of an effect everywhere else (HYS weren't part of the equation for me bc of a medicore GPA). Do searches on LSN to get a better picture. The biggest advantage you'll have is that you're above or at everyone's 75%ile, which means the schools that might care need your score the most to maintain their numbers.

The first time I was stupid and didn't study enough. I looked over the bibles and figured I'd get by because I usually do well on standardized test. After getting my ass kicked, I studied for the second one, but was sick and had one of those nightmare sections where my mind just didn't work. This most recent test I put in ~100 hours of studying and all cylinders were firing on test day. I also just got lucky. Most of my practice tests were in the low 170s.
