I am a non-traditional student in UG at the moment, but in the next year will be gearing up for law school. I was wondering if there are any particular law schools I should apply to that boost or bust students around 32-33? I anticipate a 3.3-3.4 GPA, and my LSAT will not be known until June 2012. Really I am not really asking what are my chances, as that is another thread for another place at another time, but i am asking that based on my AGE will I get more or less favorable admissions responses at which schools???

I wish students who put off going to law school until after 30 could grab the URM! Oh well, being a veteran is a decent soft I think.

I don't think you age will hurt you at all for admissions.

And the standard response to this is apply to Northwestern.

Schools look for a diverse class, but it will not give you any boost per se (or harm you) in terms of admissions. I was 35 when I applied, and my cycle turned out pretty much how one would have expected from my #s. It will be a decent soft if you play it up in your Personal Statement. The veteran status may help a little more esp. with some schools (not really sure which ones. Good luck!

If you have solid work experience, Northwestern comes to mind.

Yeah, I don't think it matters. Law firm hiring is another matter altogether from what I understand, but you cross that bridge when you come to it.

Dislike in general, but define "extremely". Most law firms prefer people who are like 26-7ish from what I've heard.

ETA: that's 26-7 when done with law school, taking the bar.

I plan to apply to Northwestern if I get a 170+, obviously my LSAT goal is 180, I have struggled to think a 180 is possible, but slowly I am starting to feel that if I don't shoot for a 180 I will probably score 5-7 points lower partially because of my own self- defeating attitude. 180 or bust!

On a side note Chicago would be better for me to work in than NYC because family is much closer, and I have some friends in Chicago that could point me in the right direction for housing, and so forth. Honestly never explored the idea of practicing in Chicago until today.

Sorry, there is a strict pube requirement to practice law at most BigLaw firms.
