Ideal number of applications to submit?
What is the ideal number of law schools one should I apply to? Is ten too many or is it reasonable?

That's probably about average, but whether it's a good selection obviously depends on your profile and which schools.

I applied to 14 - I was only planning on applying to 10 until 4 seemingly useful fee waivers came along. If you have a specific area you want to live in, you can probably limit it to about 5 or 6. If you, like me, have only a basic understanding of where you want to go, then 10 is definitely not too many (if you can afford all the apps.)

there is obviously no "ideal" number. just figure out where you would want to practice, what schools place well in those regions, which of those schools you have a realistic shot at, and go from there.

Reaches, Targets, and Safeties. 3-5 each. That's what I did. Of course, fee waivers also helped.
