How big of a mistake did I make?
On my DS I misspelled a word and barely caught it after I sent it to about 10 different schools..
How badly will this be viewed?

Very badly. These are the easiest things to fix and adcoms really look down on people who can't catch small/easy/obvious errors. Its indicative of your general ability/effort.

That looks very bad, and it's probably deserved. If you can't spell everything right in your law school application then you either (1) just intentionally don't give a shit, (2) do give a shit but not that much of a shit, or (3) you give a ton of shit but can't spot a mispell despite 10 reviews of your DS. Either way, it's bad.

It's fine. Don't worry. Lots of people submit with typos by mistake, it's not going to make or break anything.

Okay, you don't look like you're trolling, so I'll actually respond.Total Litigator wrote:That looks very bad, and it's probably deserved. The key point of analysis here is actually the flipside of point 1 - do the adcomms give a shit?
The answer is no. You are an LSAT score and an undergraduate GPA. The rest is a bunch of stuff they'll read a ton of, and a very, very small number of pieces of writing will stand out. Otherwise, they'll brush it off. They're not tossing your file over a misspelling. Don't sweat it.

Spelled the very first word on my personal statement wrong, and it was obvious. Got in everywhere with at least a half scholarship. Obviously they don't care.

Re: How big of a mistake did I make?
Depends on the particular word that you misspelled. For example, if you meant to write "Columbia", but instead wrote "Chicago", then you may want to apply elsewhere. Same with "NU" & "NYU". However, minor errors affecting a less significant word should not cause you much concern.

Defiantly a typo. Don't freak out too much about it.gogogadgetlaw wrote:Teh.JustE wrote:And the word was....?RPK34 wrote:Spelled the very first word on my personal statement wrong, and it was obvious. Got in everywhere with at least a half scholarship. Obviously they don't care.

My personal statement was full of typos/grammatical errors/missing words. Didn't seem to have any affect on my admissions cycle. You are fine, don't worry a bit about it.

I had a couple minor typos as well. No big deal. Been outperforming my number so far, I think. I definitely didn't foreseeing locking a t14 during Mid-November with my splitter status. Don't stress out, OP.

Seriously, it's not a big deal. They'll probably glance over it. Hell, I misspelled "Duke" as "University of Chicago" and still got in.

I predict you will be destroyed by robots originating from outer space. I've also been playing video games all day rather than studying, so there's that.paulshortys10 wrote:thanks Brah....nice avatar btwJDizzle2015 wrote:Will have zero impact on your cycle.paulshortys10 wrote:Instead of , "It's through these"....i typed "It's is through these"

You're right... I keep on forgetting how much of a sad numbers game law school applications are.
