Which law school should I choose?
Hey guys and girls,
I have some concerns about choosing a law school. I have been admitted to Washington & Lee, which I'm very pleased about, but do not know if it is a good fit for me. I wish to practice in New Jersey, and I would think that Rutgers (Newark) would be a better choice because it is the state university; however, W&L is 57 ranks better by most accounts. I have not yet heard back from Rutgers-Newark, but I am hopeful I will get in. If I do get in to Rutgers, should I attend Rutgers-Newark or Washington & Lee?

Rutgers. Most law schools are regional. Both W&L and Rutgers are regional. Rutgers is regional for the area you want to work in. This is an easy choice.

Rutgers should be cheaper too, which is always nice.

Thank you!! That's what I wanted to hear. Although I have not yet heard back from Rutgers. I can live at home (Rutgers-Newark is a 35 min train ride away from my home) and I can still work if i have a free couple hours once in a while (I'm an EMT for Rutgers-New Brunswick). Thanks again!

Rutgers-Newark is a regional school, however the NJ legal market is pretty saturated from what I've heard, and overall about half of all Rutgers grads are either in doc review or are unable to find legal employment at all. The upside though is that it's much cheaper, however.ffemt217 wrote:Hey guys and girls,

Have they offered you money? Could you use your "better" admission to negotiate for better money?
And of course the requisite retake, don't go, get a job instead, etc, etc.

If got into W&L, use that to leverage your scholarship to Rutgers (which is a better choice for you). You should be able to get plenty of $$$ from Rutgers
