Lack of movement driving anyone else crazy?

Post by ThreeRivers » Mon Nov 28, 2011 12:14 pm

I submitted to all the schools I applied to on 11/2, and I thought to myself that I wouldn't really become concerned at all with anything because I knew I probably wouldn't hear much until at least Thanksgiving time.

This strategy didn't work as I somehow became very interested / excited when I saw my status change from "received" "complete" "ready for review" "in review",etc...

I was accepted to 1 school on 11/17 and since that date all of my statuses have remained completely the same / no update...

For some reason a mini / pointless update was somehow comforting rather than 11 days of nothing...

Well, adcomms get a break just like the rest of us working people, so they probably haven't looked at an app for about a week now. Relax, give it some time, you will be hearing back from a lot of places over the next month.

I would say the average waiting period is 6-8 weeks. You have been waiting for what, like 3.5?

You may be getting a LOT of christmas presents this year...ha. (Hopefully).

Lol both of the above responses are credited / I realized that when I was typing my post... still hard to use this logic when I have a status checker addiction

Yes, when thinking logically I figured right before Christmas break might be when I'm hearing from a lot of them lol

Yeah, I kind of hate the status checkers. They must save the admissions offices phone calls from neurotic applicants, but I would probably not even be thinking about getting news until after January if it weren't for those status checkers, but because they're there I can't help but check them all the time. It's like a skinners box.

Yea, for UG I sent stuff in and didn't think about it forever.

Tbh what drives me the most insane is when other TLS'ers get responses from a school that I haven't yet (especially W&M which I applied earlier / have better numbers than some who got in lol)

I'm going to try and forget that I sent in any applications. Move on with my life as if I never started. Interview for jobs after UG. Try and keep my options open. Focus your energy elsewhere. It isn't LS or bust quite yet.

I'm with you. Checking my status checkers and planning my hypothetical life should I get accepted at various places is basically all I do at this point.

Ugh, so right. That's probably the other thing. Again, the rational part of my brain gets that there is some randomness to admissions process, and that there can be a million reasons why I haven't gotten responses yet, but it still drives me crazy. Come on, Michigan and Georgetown.

+1. It's frustrating because nothing is definite yet--I have been accepted to one school, but it's not my first (or even second) choice, so I'm obviously waiting for other schools...I'm the kind of person who plans their life out in advance and prefers to have everything settled and done as soon as possible. And I can't do any of that until I know where the hell I'll be this time next year.

(Yes, I know that this was a ridiculous post, and I just need to chill the balls out, but...)

I feel the same way. I'm overseas and having to wait several days until admissions offices opened felt like a lifetime. I think I used to be way more rational and patient before I started applying to law school. lol

meh, too much of a cheap obvious attempt to get internet lulz imo.

Maybe credited if I put this in all caps / was over dramatic.

Blackouts will definitely help you forget about applications. All it takes it 1mg. Can't believe that shit's still legal.

I'm just trying to move on and not worry about applications. One school said 3-5 weeks, another said no decisions until after January 15th. I don't think it's worth the anxiety.

Same. I haven't even looked at the actual websites since the day I set that up.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
