Breaking a contract only really matters if one of the parties cares about the breach.

And besides, nobody intelligent thinks that breaking a contract is immoral. Both of you would have wanted to put a clause in the contract allowing you to leave if you really needed to- like to go to law school. So pay the contract damages and move on.
