Is it a good idea to include a picture of yourself with your application?
Do people do this?
I think it puts a face on the application which is nice.
It may be difficult to do through lsac though

I don't know about admissions, but in hiring a lot of places will ding you immediately if you have a pic. They don't want to have the appearance of bias based on the pic.

What would compel you to include a picture?

The ONLY way anything of this sort would be acceptable is if you're doing the GULC optional video essay.
Otherwise . . . save yourself the embarrassment.

I've read in interviews that trying to do anything "original" is a BAD idea.

If you can send a video/picture like this, then do it. Otherwise, probably not the best idea.

Picture? L-O-L. If you're going to show your face, at least be fabulous about it. My sorority sisters helped me film a video that explained why I would be a good fit for Harvard, and I totally got a KB1. My ex-boyfriend is going to be so excited when we attend HLS together. It's the perfect way to win him back!!!

Precisely. Law schools want future lawyers. Lawyers aren't original or interesting. They're logical, pragmatic, and have good judgment. Pictures show none of those things.thelawschoolproject wrote:Opie wrote:I've read in interviews that trying to do anything "original" is a BAD idea.

It's easy. Just insert the picture into a word document - your CV would be best.CanesaLuva wrote:It may be difficult to do through lsac though
The other posters are just reacting negatively because they don't want to be judged on their looks.
I would include a selection of photos - you don't want them to think that you only look good from one angle, et cetera.
Perhaps dress in a suit and have your photo taken outside the local courthouse?

I think it's hilarious how familiar TLS is with that movie considering it came out when most TLSers were like 12. Could this be everyone's REAL motivation for law school?

Re: Picture
I actually think this is a decent idea, as it could add a lot of personality to your application. TLS often forgets that admissions committee members want to admit real people, so putting a face to a name could be to your benefit. You'll probably need to run the picture by some unbiased people first, though, since friends and family might just try to spare your feelings. You should post the picture here for our advice.

I agree. You could include a poll so we could rate the photo.Dany wrote:I actually think this is a decent idea, as it could add a lot of personality to your application.
