UG lsat median
does this even matter?
do ad comms look at your school median and take into account that only a couple of people from your ug scored as high or higher?
if not whats it there for?

No, not even a little bit. FWIW, my school didn't even have one as not enough people had taken it.

Maybe if they've never heard of your UG, they'll use it. Otherwise, no.

Re: UG lsat median
I read an interview with a dean of admissions in which he said they use the LSAT median to interpret a student's GPA. Presumably, if your school has a low LSAT median, they might view a high GPA suspiciously - especially if your school has a high median GPA.
Of course, one has to view these claims critically, as what admissions staff say often doesn't seem to fit with what they do.

^ This. Their medians are extremely important to adcomms.AntipodeanPhil wrote: Of course, admissions staff seem to say a lot of stuff like this, but then just make decisions on the basis of the numbers.

Thanks for the replies. I just never understood the need for it, but what everyone is saying definitely makes sense

I got the top score in my UG. Pretty sad considering I got a 164. I did use the data to petition my school's administration to beef up the critical thinking curriculum since they're redesigning it right now.

To the extent that law schools take into account the quality of your undergrad, they do it on the basis of UG lsat median, not USNWR ranking. Cornell's dean was pretty explicit about that.
However, it doesn't matter to any great extent for the vast majority of UGs.

There are basically three levels from what I've heard:
The really good schools: HYP, etc.
Pretty good schools: on down to the top 30 or so on USNews
Everybody else.
