Scary people on LSN, any way to block individuals?

Post by catholicgirl » Sun Nov 06, 2011 10:41 pm

Hey guys,

So in summary there is someone who is basically being a little terrifyingly creepy on LSN. I put my profile on private and everything...but is there anyway to block that person? I've emailed the webmasters with no response and now I'm starting to get a little skeezed out. I thought it was meant to be a productive site so I used my school e-mail....(realize now I am a complete and utter tool/idiot) Would really appreciate any help.

eek - I just checked but don't see a way to block someone. Maybe there is a way to delete your profile and re-add it without that e-mail?
Sucks, I'm sorry!

I think we're going to need you to copy-paste the interactions between the two of you so we can best understand how to help you deal with it.

Basically he's jut been calling me a bitch etc. Think of a lot of bad names and then add onto the fact I'm supposedly racist...which is slightly funny considering my ethnic makeup but w.e.

Is he emailing you or messaging you on LSN or posting it on your profile?

Woah. He's emailing you directly, or PMing you? How did this start?

There is a way to make your profile 'invisible' aka, only people you watch can see it, but I'm not sure how to do it.

I would..except in my pure stupidity I used my student email and now am afraid he will see it. Does anyone know how to delete a LSN account? If this whole saga hasn't expressed this adequately enough, I'm totally fing computer illiterate.

If he's not actually emailing you, just edit out all of your info and start a new profile. Tell the people you actually interact with and fudge the numbers slightly

Make your profile hidden and block his email using your spam filter.

I still don't get it. Are you afraid of him stalking you in real life or are you just fed up with his comments?

Need more details. Post the messages please. It'll be entertaining. As to your predicament, delete your LSN account. Block his email. Create a new one if you want, with an anonymous gmail account this time.

Also several lessons learned from this experience

1. History majors should never be allowed near computers

2. Attempting to be honest on LSN is a futile effort.

3. Law school applicants are all teetering on the edge of insanity and don't need much to push them over the edge.

History majors who can do computers have my undying respect.

If the guy emails me again, I will post the email. And then pray he never googled this site and doesn't have an account.

I really don't think computer illiteracy among history majors is a norm.

Yeah...probably just me. Grew up on a farm with 4 t.v. channels and no computer. I didn't have a laptop until I came to college and then I bought a mac, because I kid you not, it looked prettier.
